Suspect Sought in Downtown Silver Spring Homicide; Victim Identified

Detectives from the county’s Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday evening in the 1300 block of Fenwick Lane in downtown Silver Spring.

Third District officers responded at approximately 10:36 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a shooting, according to an MCPD press release.

Officers found an adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound in the parking lot upon their arrival.

The victim, identified as 20-year-old Jedidiah Kehiku Ogboi-Gibson of Laurel, was pronounced dead at the scene following life-saving measures provided by the county’s Fire & Rescue Service.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy on the victim’s body in order to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Bullets hit several unoccupied cars during the shooting. A suspect has not yet been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing, according to the MCPD.
