Police: Beer & Wine Store Employee Assaults Customer With Champagne Bottle

A customer was allegedly assaulted with a champagne bottle by an employee of a beer and wine store, according to Montgomery County Police.

An MCPD spokesperson confirmed that the incident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday at Lenox Beer and Wine, located at 8395 Colesville Rd. in downtown Silver Spring.

Investigators determined that 45-year-old Donald Mills verbally argued with a customer about the purchase of an alcoholic beverage. A physical argument followed, and Mills struck the victim with a champagne bottle, according to MCPD.

The unidentified victim was transported to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, Mills sustained minor injuries during the incident and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Mills after detectives reviewed surveillance footage of the incident. Mills is charged with first-degree and second-degree assault, MCPD said.
