Victim Identified in Fatal Shooting on Metrobus

Detectives from the county’s Major Crimes Division, Homicide Section are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old on Friday night aboard a Metrobus in White Oak.

At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Friday, Third District officers on patrol in the Vista at White Oak apartments observed a WMATA Metrobus pulled over on Lockwood Drive. After stopping to assist, the officers discovered that a shooting had taken place inside the bus.

The victim had been removed from the bus when the officers arrived, and they attempted life-saving measures until the county’s Fire and Rescue Service arrived. 19-year-old Justice T’Ziyan Elliott of Silver Spring was pronounced dead at the scene, MCPD said in a news release.

During the investigation, it was discovered that Elliott was seated in the back of the bus when the suspect boarded and confronted Elliott. After exchanging words, the suspect pulled out a handgun, shot Elliott, and fled the bus, MCPD said.

The suspect is described as a Black male, thin build, 5-foot, 10 inches tall, wearing all-black clothing and a black face mask.
