Two Arrested for Handgun Possession, Attempted Carjacking

Montgomery County Police say that two brothers from Waldorf have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted carjacking that occurred Wednesday evening in Silver Spring.

21-year-old Marc Anthony Dacenay, Jr. is charged with possession of a handgun. The charges against Marquie Dacenay include attempted carjacking, attempted theft under $25,000, second-degree assault, and possession of a firearm.

According to an MCPD press release, Third District officers responded at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday to the 900 block of Ellsworth Dr. in response to a report of a strong-arm robbery.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the juvenile male victim was sitting in the lobby of the Regal Majestic theater when he was approached by one suspect, who punched him in the face and stole his personal property. There was a second suspect who approached the victim and both suspects punched him several times. The suspects then left the theater.

During the course of the investigation, it was believed that both suspects boarded a Ride On Flash bus heading northbound on Colesville Rd. Officers located the Ride On bus near Colesville Rd. and University Blvd.

As officers were in the area, they located two suspects whose descriptions matched the lookouts, in the vicinity of Colesville Rd. and University Blvd. The suspects fled when officers attempted to stop them, MCPD said.

One of the suspects dropped a silver Sarsilmaz K2 .45 caliber handgun during the chase. Upon capturing the first suspect, officers identified him as Marc Dacenay, Jr.

Marquie Dacenay, the second suspect, attempted to steal a blue Nissan Altima that was being driven on Colesville Rd. After pulling on the passenger door handle several times, he was unable to gain entry to the car and attempted to gain entrance to a black van that was behind the Altima. The van was driven by an on-duty Montgomery County Police detective, who took Dacenay into custody. He was found to be in possession of a 9mm ghost gun.

There is still an investigation underway to determine whether these suspects were responsible for the initial robbery that took place inside the Regal Majestic theater, MCPD said.
