Truist Bank in Downtown Silver Spring Robbed; Suspect Photos Released

Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect caught on surveillance video during an armed robbery of the Truist Bank in the 1100 block of Wayne Ave. in downtown Silver Spring.

“At approximately 12:25 p.m. [on Friday, September 16], 3rd District Officers responded to the location for the report of an armed bank robbery that just occurred,” MCPD said in a news release. “The investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect entered the bank and approached an employee. The suspect displayed a black handgun and demanded money. The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect, who then left the bank.”

MCPD said that the suspect is described as a White male, between 50 and 60 years old, armed with a black handgun, wearing black sunglasses, a red baseball cap, a light-colored polo shirt, beige pants, and black/white shoes.
