The Restaurant at Zinnia Now Open, Owners Announce

The owners of Zinnia have announced the opening of The Restaurant at Zinnia planned for the site, completing the foursome of dining experiences at the Colesville Road location where Mrs. K’s served area patrons for 90 years.

The restaurant joins the gardens, the tavern, and the recently opened café, offering customers all-day dining choices.

The restaurant is headed by Chef Danny Wells, formerly of Republic in Takoma Park, which closed Sept. 4.

Chef Danny has spent over 20 years connecting with local farmers to bring you the best protein and produce in the area,” according to the website.

“Danny also utilizes ingredients grown in our own organic garden on the Zinnia grounds. We look forward to welcoming you into this new experience at Zinnia.”

The menu features classic broiled oysters, a lamb tart, Tollhouse Caesar, and fried green tomatoes among the starters.

Entrees include a 10-ounce ribeye, spiced duck breast, swordfish piccata, and sautéed Peruvian bay scallops, along with a burger and other choices, and a la carte side dishes.

Specialty cocktails from Beverage Director Dylan Greer, along with wines and beer, are available at a new bar in the renovated dining room.

The restaurant is open from 5–9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and accepts reservations.

The restaurant’s opening was first reported in the Washingtonian.
