Police Investigating Double Fatal Collision

Montgomery County Police say that they are investigating a double fatal collision that occurred Sunday evening at the intersection of Georgia Ave. and May St.

79-year-old Dr. Prabodh Vaid, owner of Foxhall Veterinary Clinic, and his wife, 77-year-old Nirmala Vaid, were killed in the crash.

“At approximately 7:44 p.m. [July 10], 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a traffic collision,” MCPD said in a news release. “The investigation by detectives has determined that the driver of a black Jeep Cherokee was traveling southbound on Georgia Ave. The driver of a black Toyota Camry was attempting to make a left turn from northbound Georgia Ave. onto May St. The Jeep struck the Toyota, pushing it off the road and into the yard of a residence.

“The driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver and passenger in the Toyota suffered life-threatening injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver has been identified as 79-year-old Prabodh Vaid, of Silver Spring. The passenger has been identified as 77-year-old Nirmala Vaid, of Silver Spring.”
