Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’s new location in downtown Silver Spring is now open, according to signage posted in the storefront’s windows.
The restaurant, located above Quarry House Tavern at 8401 Georgia Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., 7 days a week. As of the time of this article’s publishing, online ordering is not yet available.
Construction has been underway for several months to convert the space formerly occupied by Bombay Gaylord, which closed following a fire in 2015. Chef/owner Kalistus Gomes eventually decided to relocate to Olney and opened Nirvana in 2018.
Popeyes was founded in a New Orleans suburb in 1972 and currently has more than 2,700 outlets around the country, many of them local franchises. The menu features Cajun-spiced fried chicken and tenders, along with biscuits and other side orders.
Hiring for the location is still ongoing, according to a sign posted in the window. Interested applicants can apply online.
Popeyes is the first of several upcoming restaurant openings in Silver Spring’s Central Business District, including J. Hollinger’s, Underground Pizza Company, Kusshi Ko, Dog Haus Biergarten, Black Lion Café, Firepan Korean BBQ, Miss Toya’s Creole House, Flip’d by IHOP, and the Commas food hall at Ellsworth Place.
