Long Branch Library Reopens After $4 Million Renovation Project

Long Branch Library at 8800 Garland Ave. has reopened after a 10-month renovation, county officials announced today.

The library closed in March 2020 for the project, which cost about $4 million. Due to the pandemic, services are limited to contactless holds pickup service and telephone service.

The project included renovating public restrooms, construction of a new family restroom on the 1st floor, creating new teen and children’s areas and a new group study room, along with a new sit/stand service desk, according to a press release.

In addition, the work added new seating and accommodations for laptop users inside, as well as a series of exterior improvements, including landscaping and accessibility additions.

The library, which is slightly more than 21,000 square feet, includes about 58,000 print and media items.
