County Police Arrest, Charge Suspect in Storage Unit Burglary

County police from the 3rd District have arrested Brady Santos, age 31, of Washington, D.C. and charged him with the burglary of Silver Spring storage units, the department announced.

Officers responded to the Extra Space Storage facility located at 7722 Fenton St. for a burglary that had just occurred on Nov. 19.

“Officers met with an employee who stated that the suspect was observed entering and exiting the property through a secure metal gate. The employee was able to provide a description of the suspect and stated that he believed the suspect to be Santos,” according to a press release. “The employee explained that Santos was a former customer at an Extra Space Storage facility in Washington, D.C. and had been banned from all locations.”

Santos’ description was broadcast over police radio and an officer spotted a man matching the description walking along Fenton toward Burlington Avenue.

“When the officer called out to the suspect to stop, the suspect ran and discarded a suitcase and two bags that he had been carrying,” the release continued. “Officers were able to stop and arrest the male in the 8000 block of Georgia Avenue and identify him as Santos.”

Police discovered burglary tools on Santos and in the suitcases. He was charged with second-degree burglary and also was served with two criminal warrants.

In addition, detectives are looking into the possibility that Santos committed similar burglaries in the area.

He currently is being held without bond.
