Thunderbolts open 2017 season Friday

Guest post by Ken Giglio.

The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts open their 2017 home season this Friday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Montgomery Blair High School against the Bethesda Big Train. The contest is the first of 20 home games for the Tbolts, who play in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.

The Thunderbolts, in their 18th season, are coached by Doug Remer. The team comprises college players recruited from around the country.

Thunderbolt home games provide a great opportunity to see high-level, competitive baseball in a family-friendly environment. In-game activities include a chance for kids to race around the bases between innings, a pizza box derby, and a drawing for raffle prizes.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $2 for fans under the age of 18. Youth baseball and softball players in uniform, and kids under age 5, get in for free.

Ken Giglio is a member of the Thunderbolts board of directors and one of the team’s public address announcers.
