Council to approve budget with BRT, Ride On funding

The new budget will include additional transportation funding. Graphic from the BRT website. The County Council is expected to formally approve the county’s Fiscal Year 2018 budget this Thursday. The budget includes $31.5 million for Fiscal Years 2018-2020 for the study, design and right-of-way purchases for the planned Bus Rapid Transit. Six million dollars of that amount is intended for the U.S. Route 29 line to the Silver Spring Transit Center. As we previously reported, Pollo Campero is building out a location at 8666 Colesville Road, in the former Da Marco Grappa Bar next to The Fillmore: The chain specializes in chicken that’s either hand-breaded and fried or grilled Peruvian style. U.S. break dancing championships here this weekend

Break dancers will compete for a national title this weekend. Graphic from Wikimedia Commons. The 2017 Rock the Box U.S. Breakin’ Championships will be held this weekend at The Lab DC dance studio. Sponsored by the Competive Breakin’ League, qualifiers are Saturday from 12-5 p.m. and the championships held on Sunday at the same time. Breakers will compete in three divisions: Youth 2-vs-2 Championship, Teen 1-vs-1 Championship and Adult 1-vs-1 Championship. News of the offering was included in an email circulated by Newmark Grubb Knight Frank announcing the company had been “exclusively retained” to sell the property. A copy of the email was obtained by Source of the Spring. Newmark Knight Grubb Frank is a global commercial real estate advisory firm with more than 400 offices on six continents.
