County Sets Schedule, Changes for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

The county has set its schedule of closings and other changes due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday Monday, Jan. 21.

All county government offices and libraries will be closed for the holiday, as will state offices and courts.

The Department of Recreation’s administrative offices, senior centers and community centers will be closed. However, aquatic facilities and programs will be open, while all other programs and classes are cancelled.

Patrons of the county’s parks, including ice rinks and tennis centers, should check www.MontgomeryParks.org for scheduling information.

Ride On will operate on a modified holiday schedule, while travelers on Metrorail and MetroBus should check for schedule information.

The TRiPS Commuter Store at the Silver Spring Transit Center will be open, though the TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store will be closed.

In addition, the Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station will be closed. There will be no county-provided refuse or recycling pickup on Monday. All scheduled pickups will be pushed back one day.

Finally, all county liquor storeswill be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and parking at public garages, lots, curbside meterswill be free.
