Montgomery County Summer Camp Registration Opens Jan. 16

The county’s Recreation Department will host camps this summer to encourage active and healthy lifestyles for children.

Registration for Montgomery County Residents starts at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, while non-county residents can register starting Thursday, Jan. 18.

“I encourage all residents to plan ahead for the summer with Montgomery County Recreation’s variety of exciting camps,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich in a press release. “Some of the best memories, experiences, and education come from summer camp activities. Many of our camps fill up quickly and we don’t want anyone to miss out. Recreation camps prioritize affordability, inclusivity, convenience and safety. There is something available for everyone, so make sure to take advantage of what the County has to offer right in your own backyard.”

Montgomery County Recreation camps provide a range of summer programs across the county, emphasizing safe and enjoyable outdoor activities for all campers.

The programs will be available to view online starting on Friday, January 5th. Residents can also access a digital guide and create their own.

Montgomery County Recreation will host two free summer camp fairs in January to assist families in planning their children’s summer activities. The first fair will be on Sunday, January 7th at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center, located at 13850 Travilah Road in Rockville. The second fair will be held on Sunday, January 14th at the East County Community Recreation Center, located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring. Both fairs will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Visitors can experience camp activities at the fairs, including arts, crafts, games, snacks, and more.

County residents can now apply for the 2024 Rec Assist program, which offers a scholarship of $400 for eligible individuals to use for recreation programs. Once approved, the scholarship amount will be credited to the recipient’s account.
