Governments, Agencies Announce Closings, Schedule Changes for Fourth of July

Local governments and some agencies have announced closings and schedule changes for the Fourth of July holiday tomorrow.

County offices, libraries and county-operated COVID-19 vaccination and testing clinics will be closed. Alcohol Beverage Services stores will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Takoma Park offices and facilities, including the police department office, will be closed.

State offices and courts, along with state Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations will be closed.

Ride On will operate on a Saturday schedule. Ride On extra and Flex services will not be operating. Ride On Flash’s Orange Route will operate on a weekend and holiday schedule, while the Blue route will not be running.

Both the Silver Spring commuter store and the mobile commuter store will be closed.

Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule. Metro trains will operate frequently, running from 7 a.m. to a time TBD. Both services will be free after 5 p.m. on the Fourth.

There will be no trash and recycling collections on Tuesday, July 4. Collections will slide one day throughout the rest of the week, with the last pickup on Saturday, July 8. The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed on July 4.

County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m. Indoor aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m. Community Recreation Centers and senior centers will be closed.

Some Montgomery Parks facilities will be closed, while others will operate on a modified schedule; see the Montgomery Parks website for more information.

Finally, parking at county garages, public lots and street meters will be free.
