Governments, Agencies Announce Holiday Closings and Schedule Changes

Local government and agencies have released their closings and schedule changes for the Memorial Day holiday Monday, May 29.

All county offices, vaccine and testing clinics, and libraries will be closed Monday. Alcohol Beverage Services stores will be open from 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

In Takoma Park, all city offices and facilities will be closed Sunday and Monday; police department offices will be closed on Monday.

State offices and courts, along with Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations will be closed.

Ride On will operate a Sunday schedule. Ride On extRa and Ride On Flex will not operate.

The Flash Orange Line will operate on a weekend and holiday schedule, while the Blue Line will not operate. Ride On transit services schedules can be found online.

The TRiPS Silver Spring commuter store will be open from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. while the mobile commuter store will be closed.

Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on Sunday schedules.

County-provided trash and recycling collections are postponed on Monday. Collections will slide one day later than usual with the last pickup on Saturday, June 3. The Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be closed.

County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.–2 p.m. and 3–6 p.m. Indoor aquatic facilities will close at 6 p.m. Community recreation centers and senior centers will be closed.

Some Montgomery Parks facilities will be closed while some will operate on modified schedules; the website has complete information.

Finally, all county garages, parking lots and street meters will be free on Memorial Day.
