Registration for Fall Recreation Activities to Begin Aug. 15

Registration for the county’s fall recreation programs and activities will begin at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, officials announced.

Activities such as aquatics, fitness, sports, visual and performing arts, therapeutic recreation, adult 55+ programming and more are available to review now, prior to registering.

The department has added the ability for interested residents to build their own guide, based on categories, locations and ages of the participants. The instructions, according to a press release, are:

  • Select topics that interest you. You may choose from the program categories, organized by topic. You can choose a primary category, which will automatically select all the corresponding secondary categories, or just select individual secondary categories.
  • Choose locations. Montgomery County Recreation has programming at facilities across the County.
  • Indicate age range. Select the age ranges that are relevant to you and your family members.
  • Review your selection and create your guide. Review the categories, locations, and ages you chose during the selection process. When you are done with your review, click the “Create My Guide” button and a downloadable PDF file will be created for you.

Online registration will be available Monday at ActiveMONTGOMERY.org.

In addition, four recreation centers will open at 6:30 a.m. for help with in-person registrations. The most convenient centers for local readers are the Long Branch Community Recreation Center at 8700 Garland Ave. and Wheaton Recreation Center at 11701 Georgia Ave.

Registration also is available by mail; call 240.777.6840 with questions or for more information.
