Council to Hold Hearing, Vote on Reopening Limited Indoor Dining

The County Council will hold a public hearing and vote next week on a revised executive order proposed yesterday by County Executive Marc Elrich.

The council is scheduled to introduce a resolution approving Executive Order No. 19-21, COVID-19 Local Order – Amending and Restating Order later today, as well as introduce a similar resolution in their role as the Board of Health.

The revised order would reopen indoor dining at 25% capacity, suspend alcohol sales at 10 p.m. and limit indoor dining to a one-hour dining period, as well as make several technical revisions.

If passed by the council and the Board of Health, the order would go into effect at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The public hearing and vote will take place on Feb. 9 starting at 10:05 a.m. The deadline to sign up to testify is Monday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.

Those who wish to testify must sign up to call in to the virtual hearing online. Interested parties also may take advantage of the option to provide audio, video and written testimony to the council using a recently developed online testimony form.

“The testimony provided with the online option carries the same weight as testimony given at a public hearing,” according to a press release. “Councilmembers consider all comments as part of their deliberations.”
