The Silver Spring Blues Festival is featured in this month’s edition of Montgomery Arts Infusion, the second show of the program featuring arts and entertainment in the county.
The show also features a local producer named Michael Bailey and his efforts to promote jazz, especially to a younger generation, through media including a show on Montgomery Community television.
In addition, this edition takes a look at a program by Montgomery College to revive dinner theater in the area. These shows, in which actors also served dinner to attendees, were once popular locally but have fallen off in recent years.
The college has been teaching theater production combined with dinner service for 40 years. In this segment, local sportscaster Johnny Holliday talks about how his years starring at Harlequin Dinner Theater in Rockville influenced the rest of his career.
Finally, July’s MAI show talks to local artist Joseph Craig English about his work preserving historic architecture and other county scenes in prints, paintings and sculptures.
