County Announces Thanksgiving Day Closures

The county has announced its schedule of closures for Thanksgiving Day Thursday, Nov. 28.

All county offices, libraries and liquor stores will be closed, as will state offices and courts.

All recreation programs and facilities will be closed. Montgomery Parks headquarters and permit offices will close on both Thursday and Friday. Most parks facilities will be closed on Thursday, including Brookside Gardens Visitors Center and Conservatory (the gardens will be open) and the Wheaton Ice Arena.

Ride On Flex will not operate on Thursday, while Ride On busses will run on a Sunday schedule. Passengers can visit www.wmata.com to see the schedules for Metrorail and Metrobus. 

The TRiPS Commuter Store in Silver Spring and the TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store will be closed.

The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27 and remain closed on Thursday, Nov. 28.

All county-provided trash and recycling collection will be canceled Thursday. After the holiday, collections will slide one day later,

Finally, parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters will be free on Thanksgiving Day.
