“Meditation: Finding Inner Peace & Joy” — Free Lecture with Guided Meditation
April 19 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
FreeDid you know that you can have a personal experience of inner peace and joy through meditation? Join us for an evening with Self-Realization Fellowship monk Brother Govindananda that explores how meditation can lead to the natural development of deep calmness and the awakening of spiritual consciousness. This talk will include a guided meditation and will give an introduction to how “we can, through the science of meditation, find life’s most sought-after and precious gifts right within ourselves, no matter our outer circumstances,” says Brother Govindananda.
Paramahansa Yogananda (author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi) taught that a foundation for truly balanced and successful living comes from realization of the Divine within oneself through meditation. He founded Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) in 1920, at the behest of his line of renowned gurus, to teach worldwide the science of Kriya Yoga meditation — which enables a seeker to experience the underlying oneness that unites all people, all religions, and all life.
Brother Govindananda — whose name means “bliss through mastery of the senses” — has been a member of the SRF monastic community for more than 25 years and resides at SRF’s international headquarters. He has been a regular speaker and meditation leader at the SRF Hollywood Temple and has lectured on the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe, and South America.
