UPDATE: Silver Spring Post Office Move Postponed

The relocation and opening of the Silver Spring Main Post Office has been postponed, according to a USPS announcement. The office was scheduled to move from its temporary location this weekend and open in its new permanent location at 940 Thayer Ave., Suite 100 on Monday, Jan. 13.

Young Male Shot, Wounded Sunday Evening

A 15-year-old male was shot and wounded Sunday evening (January 5) in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive, according to a county police department press release. Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating the incident, which was reported at about 5:50 p.m.

Ride On Bus Routes, Stops Affected by Purple Line Work

A number of Ride On bus routes and stops have been altered as of yesterday due to Purple Line construction. For example, several Ride On bus stops will be temporarily relocated along northbound Colesville Road (between Wayne Avenue and Georgia Avenue—look for the purple temporary shelters), on the second floor of the transit center, and on East-West Highway.

University to Consolidate Operations in Silver Spring

A Puerto Rico-based university will consolidate and expand its local offerings in the Inventa Towers in downtown Silver Spring. Ana G. Méndez University has agreed to lease 28,500 square feet of space in the former Discovery headquarters and plans a May 2020 opening, according to a press release from the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation.
