PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans plans to open an outlet on the ground floor of Core apartments at 8621 Georgia Ave., its first in Maryland.

The company was founded in 1978 by Phyllis Jordan and uses only 100 percent Arabica beans sourced from fourteen countries, according its website.

Its outlets offer a wide variety of coffee and tea drinks, including cold-brewed coffee, “a process pioneered by our founder,” the site says.

Customers can also order smoothies, hot or frozen chocolate drinks, lemonade and granitas, as well as breakfast items.

PJ’s, which has 90 outlets primarily in Louisiana, has created a franchising plan and hopes to expand in 100 locations by the end of the year. The Silver Spring store is projected to open in the spring.
