County, Takoma Park Police Participating in Drug Take Back Day

Both the county and Takoma Park police departments will participate in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 30, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Takoma Park police.

The event, the 22nd annual Take Back Day, will be held from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. It is an opportunity for residents to anonymously dispose of unneeded medications, including those that are old or unwanted.

“[The] DEA and its law enforcement partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs,” according to the DEA announcement. “Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps, and illicit drugs will not be accepted.”

The Takoma Park collection will be held outside if the weather is good; otherwise, participants can drop off their drugs in the first-floor lobby at 7500 Maple Ave.

The most convenient local location outside of Takoma Park is the county’s 3rd District Police Station at 1002 Milestone Dr.

The DEA also has a site locator web page for additional locations for Saturday’s event.
