Montgomery County and the City of Takoma Park have announced scheduling changes for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
The following will be closed on both Dec. 25 and Jan. 1:
- County offices
- Alcohol Beverage Services stores
- TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center, and
- TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store.
County libraries will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and remain closed Dec. 25–26 and Jan. 1–2. Aquatic facilities will close Dec. 24, 25 and 31, as well as Jan. 1.
In Takoma Park, city operations will close at 12:30 p.m. Christmas Eve and remain closed until Monday, Dec. 28. Operations will cease at 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve through Saturday, Jan. 2.
For transit users, Ride On/Ride On extRa/Flash Service will stop at 10 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will operate on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
Metrorail and Metrobus holiday information is available online, as is MARC and commuter bus holiday service.
There will be no county trash or recycling pickups on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Service will be delayed one day. The Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 31, and be closed both on Christmas and New Year’s days.
Finally, parking at county garages, surface lots and meters will be free on Dec. 2 and Jan. 1.
