Solaire Social Welcomes Passport Eatz and Returning Cafe Shuga This Weekend

Passport Eatz will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday at the Solaire Social food hall in downtown Silver Spring, featuring live DJ performances and special discounts for Instagram followers.

The Jamaican fusion eatery recently moved into the space vacated by Pau & Sophia’s Thai Kitchen, which relocated to the space previously occupied by the departed Kati Roll Wala.

Passport Eatz and its sister concept, Passport Juices, are operated by four brothers who grew up in Jamaica. Passport Eatz offers a variety of Caribbean dishes, including jerk chicken empanadas and oxtail sandwiches, while Passport Juices offers juices, smoothies, and health shots, including a Clear Skin juice made with spinach, carrots, and grapefruit.

Cafe Shuga, which recently took a break to regroup and make improvements, is set to reopen this weekend, operating from Friday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The African-inspired coffee bar’s menu features signature drinks, including the Vanilla Moringa Latte, and rotating summer specials such as Zobo (hibiscus) Lemonade, as well as affogato pairings that combine Shuga x Ice ice cream with Cafe Shuga’s signature lattes.

This month, Shuga x Ice introduces two new flavors to its lineup: Malva Pudding, inspired by the traditional South African dessert, combines sweet vanilla ice cream with Malva Pudding cake pieces and apricot jam, while Kenyan Chai offers a bold black tea experience infused with authentic masala chai, ginger, cardamom, and warm spices.

Alongside these new additions, Shuga x Ice continues to offer its core flavors, which include Tea & Bread, Gbas Gbos, Love Nwantinti, Nebadaye, Vimto, and Madagascar Vanilla.

Solaire Social is located at 8200 Dixon Ave. in downtown Silver Spring and online at solairesocial.com.
