Two new eateries have replaced recently departed original Solaire Social vendors as the downtown Silver Spring food hall marked its first anniversary last weekend.
Vegan Junk Food DMV has moved to Solaire Social after the Le Fantome ghost kitchen and food hall in Riverdale Park permanently closed earlier this month.
The 100 percent vegan eatery has taken over the space previously occupied by Soko Butcher, which recently acquired Harvey’s Market in D.C.’s Union Market District and closed both stalls at Solaire Social.
According to The MoCo Show, Soko chef-owner Brad Feickert is working on a yet-to-be-announced special project; more details will be revealed later.
Four brothers who grew up in Jamaica operate Caribbean eatery Passport Eatz, which is currently soft opening in the former location of Pau & Sophia’s Thai Kitchen.
Passport Eatz joins sister concept Passport Juices, which recently opened in the space previously occupied by Soko Oyster; Pau & Sophia’s Thai Kitchen subsequently relocated to the stall vacated by the departed Indian eatery Kati Roll Wala.
Passport Juices features a range of juices, smoothies, açaí bowls, pitaya bowls, and immunity-boosting shots with Clear Skin juice made from spinach, carrot, and grapefruit. Meanwhile, Passport Eatz offers a variety of dishes, including jerk chicken empanadas, oxtail coco bread sandwiches, Jamaican patties, and chicken wings in flavors like guava and mango habanero.
Solaire Social is located at 8200 Dixon Ave. in downtown Silver Spring and online at solairesocial.com.
