Beteseb Once Again Named an “Essential” Ethiopian Restaurant

The area’s restaurant scene continues to attract national attention and accolades due to its quality and diversity.

Beteseb Restaurant at 8201 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring has once again been named to Eater D.C.’s Essential Ethiopian Restaurants Around D.C. list:

Silver Spring has no shortage of good Ethiopian food, but Beteseb distinguishes itself with food bursting with flavor and spice. The injera is made entirely from teff grain, unlike many American-adapted injera that incorporate wheat flour. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday to Sunday. Try the breakfast firfir combo (scrambled eggs, seasoned cracked wheat, spiced bread) or buttery bula porridge.

Beteseb was previously featured in the Washington, D.C. episode of Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s PBS series No Passport Required, which aired in 2018.
