Art Hop Festival Adds Wine Tastings, Specials to Annual Event

This year’s Art Hop Arts Fest in Takoma Park/Takoma comes with a twist: wine, according to an announcement by Main Street Takoma, the host organization.

The 11th annual event this weekend (April 27-28) will include an Art and Wine Hub next to the Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-op on Ethan Allen Avenue.

Visitors can buy a souvenir wine glass at the hub or at the Main Street Takoma Tent (corner of Carroll and Laurel avenues) and enjoy wine tastings or purchase wine specials at businesses participating in the festival.

Art Hop will feature works from more than 100 artists on display inside shops, restaurants, galleries and cafés in the area. Art including painting, photography, sculpture, mixed media, jewelry, pottery, mosaic, fabric arts and more will be for sale at a variety of price points at participating locations.

Attendees can pick up an Art Hop Map from any business displaying an Art Hop sign in the window. The map also is a punch card that can be stamped at each location. Once the card has 12 stamps, it can be turned in at the Art Hop Info Booth at the Gazebo (7035 Carroll Ave.) on both Saturday and Sunday for nightly prize drawings of art.

Other weekend activities will include meet-the-artist receptions, cider tastings, music from WOWD-FM and live performances at the Gazebo.

The festival will run on Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Sunday. A complete list of artists and the performance schedule is available online.
