Trattoria da Lina, which opened last March at 7000 Carroll Ave., is expanding into space next door that was occupied by the now-closed Dolci Gelati, according to an announcement from Main Street Takoma.

The restaurant will include the corner space and will feature a new entrance, a bar and cocktail seating.

The trattoria, named after owner Marcello Minna’s mother, will being opening for lunch service, and will introduce new cocktails, an expanded wine list and a separate light bar menu, according to the announcement.

Minna also plans to create an outdoor seating area and will convert the building’s vintage bank teller station to a carryout window for ice cream, frozen yogurt, coffee and desserts. The target date for opening in the expanded space is spring of this year.

In the meantime, Chef Gianluigi Dellaccio is looking for a new location in Takoma to serve his gelato.
