Takoma Pride Parade and Street Fair Returns Sunday, June 1

The annual Takoma Pride Parade and Street Fair, celebrating diversity, inclusion, visibility, and acceptance, will take place this Sunday, June 1, according to Main Street Takoma.

All are invited to join the family-friendly event held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., dress festively, and join the parade with posters and flags.

Poster-making starts at 9:30 a.m. at the start of the parade route at 201 Ethan Allen Ave. in Takoma Park.

The Pride Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. along Carroll Ave. between Philadelphia Ave. and Laurel Ave., featuring OUT Riders Women’s Motorcycle Club, a float created by the Takoma Park Rainbow Club carrying guest of honor drag queen Tara Hoot, plus members of the Free State Roller Derby.

The Street Fair along Laurel Ave. between Carroll Ave. and Eastern Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. will feature vendor booths with lots of info, books, zine-making, crafts, and more; free face painting and chalk for writing expressions of Pride in the street; Pride art installation for taking photos created by the Takoma Park Rainbow Club; and ice cream and sweets.
