Suspect Arrested in Takoma Park Shed Burglaries

Police say a suspect has been arrested in connection with several shed burglaries that have occurred in Takoma Park.

Chief Antonio DeVaul announced on Thursday the arrest of Johan Aplichue Rojas, 20, of no fixed address, for second-degree burglary, assault on law enforcement officers, and resisting arrest.

According to police spokesperson Cathy Plevy, at approximately 3:31 p.m. Wednesday, the Takoma Park Police Special Assignment Team (SAT) and Criminal Investigations Division (CID) were actively searching for Rojas, who had an open warrant in Takoma Park as well as a suspect in a series of shed burglaries. Rojas was located in the 6800 block of New Hampshire Avenue by detectives; they approached Rojas and identified themselves as police officers. He attempted to flee on foot, became combative, and caused minor injuries to the officers who took him into custody.
