Takoma Park Police Investigating Second Auto Theft on Maple Avenue

Takoma Park police are investigating an armed robbery and stolen auto report, according to a community advisory.

The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. Aug. 27 in the 7700 block of Maple Avenue.

A similar crime, an armed carjacking, occurred in the same area a block away at about the same time the night before.

In the second incident, police report, “The victim was exiting his parked vehicle when he was approached by a subject pointing a black handgun at him and demanding property.  A second subject exited a black SUV and joined the first subject.”

After the victim, who was not seriously injured, fled on foot, he noticed his car was missing, a red 2014 Toyota Camry with the license plate #MD 5DZ0817.

“The subjects are described as (1) black male, thin build, last seen wearing a black shirt, black ski mask and armed with a black handgun; (2) black male, light skin complexion, muscular build and last seen wearing a black ski mask,” police report.

The outstanding vehicle has been entered into the National Crime Information Center stolen vehicle database and information shared with the surrounding jurisdictions.

Police ask that anyone who has information about the crime to call 301.270.1100 and refer to case #210033412.
