Dacha Beer Garden Secures License Approval Ahead of Downtown Silver Spring Opening

Montgomery County has approved Dacha Beer Garden’s application for a beer, wine, and liquor license as it prepares to open in downtown Silver Spring.

We reported last month that the D.C.-based beer garden had signed a lease for the former Denizens Brewing Co. brewery and taproom at 1115 East-West Highway, which closed in 2023 after ten years of operation.

Silver Branch Brewing Company’s application for its new Rockville Beerworks, which is currently hiring staff ahead of its opening, was also approved at the April 10 Board of License Commissioners hearing.

Dacha Beer Garden serves a selection of German, Belgian, and American craft beers, ciders, cocktails, wine, and other beverages. The beer garden also offers a variety of food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring dishes inspired by traditional Bavarian beer gardens, including bratwurst, schnitzel, and pretzels, served with beer cheese and mustard.

Additionally, Dacha hosts various events, including social and professional gatherings, fundraisers, and a weekly beer club meeting on Wednesdays.

Dacha operates locations in Shaw and at Navy Yard in D.C., marking the downtown Silver Spring beer garden as its third location. Co-owner Ilya Alter told Bethesda Magazine in March that the new location does not have a set opening date yet, as the team is in early planning stages and is awaiting regulatory approvals from Montgomery County.

“We are excited about the opportunity,” Alter said last month.
