MCDOT to Discuss 13th Street & Burlington Avenue Bike Lanes Thursday Evening

The county’s Department of Transportation will hold an in-person meeting this week to discuss the separated bike lanes on 13th Street and Burlington Avenue in downtown Silver Spring.

MCDOT will present the plan, design, and potential impacts to the community at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Montgomery College Health Sciences Building.

According to a press release, new bike lanes will link the South Silver Spring and Fenton Village neighborhoods and the Metropolitan Branch Trail, with separate lanes on 13th Street and Burlington Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Fenton Street that will be one-way on both sides and separated from traffic by a raised median.

MCDOT has yet to specify a construction timeframe for the project.

The Montgomery College Health Sciences Building is at 7977 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring. Submit feedback and questions by Friday, Nov. 29, to MCDOT Project Manager Matt Johnson at [email protected].
