Dog Haus Biergarten Now Open

Dog Haus Biergarten is now fully open in Downtown Silver Spring, after a soft opening solely for takeout and delivery.

We reported last week that the restaurant, located at the former home of Lebanese Taverna at 933 Ellsworth Drive in the Downtown Silver Spring development, had a targeted opening date of December 15, according to the outlet’s Google listing. The restaurant had been open last week for takeout and delivery to train the staff, but fully opened on Friday, Dec. 10, a Dog Haus worker said this morning.

Operating hours for the restaurant are 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday. Happy Hour is also offered from 3 p.m to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 10 p.m. to close on Friday and Saturday.

Dog Haus first opened in 2010 in Pasadena, Calif. and began franchising in 2013. Currently, there are more than 35 restaurants open, with more “coming soon,” and more than 130 locations sold to franchisees, according to the company website.

The menu features dogs, sausages and burgers, as well as plant-based options with a variety of toppings. For example, the Thai Fighter includes spicy Thai currywurst, wild arugula, pickled jalapenos and spicy basil aioli, while the Downtown is a smoked bacon-wrapped dog, caramelized onions, pickled peppers, mayo, mustard and ketchup.

The restaurant also offers breakfast items via its Bad-Ass Breakfast Burritos ghost kitchen.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dog Haus to Downtown Silver Spring,” Yankowski said in an email to the Source last March. “They will be a great addition to the area.”
