Detectives Seeking Information About Attempted Carjacking in Silver Spring

Detectives with the police department’s Major Crimes Division have released surveillance video of two suspects in an attempted armed carjacking and are looking to the public to help identify them.

Police responded to a report of the incident at about 5:35 a.m. Nov. 5 in the 8000 block of 13th Street.

According to a press release, the suspects got out of their car and approached a woman walking to her car parked on 13th Street.

“One of the suspects pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded her car key and personal property. The victim refused to comply with the suspect’s demands and screamed for help,” the release reads. “At that point, the same suspect struck the victim on the head with the handgun and took her personal property.”

The suspects, who failed in their carjacking attempt, got back in their car fled south on Georgia Avenue.

Via the surveillance video, police learned the suspect’s car was alight blue 2007-2012 Honda CRV with an unknown Maryland license plate.
