Quarry House Tavern & Adega Wine Cellars Update

Progress is being made at the original home of Quarry House Tavern. No movement on Adega, however. (Mike Mowery & David Lay/Source of the Spring)

Quarry House Tavern is getting closer to opening in its original location at 8401 Georgia Avenue in Downtown Silver Spring.

“(We) had some setbacks with utility companies and now waiting on Washington Gas to perform some work. Chugging ahead slowly but steadily,” said owner Jackie Greenbaum in an email to Source of the Spring.

Quarry House had been forced out of the original location due to a 2015 fire in the street-level Bombay Gaylord restaurant. They had temporarily relocated to the space vacated by Piratz Tavern (and now Lina’s Diner & Bar), but closed at the end of February.

Unfortunately for Adega Wine Cellars, there hasn’t seemed to be any movement on the space. The doors and windows are covered, and there is a sticker on the door indicating leased beverage equipment is still inside. They closed February 19 due to “unforeseen circumstances,” with little to no notice, and attempts to contact the owner have gone unreturned.

If you have any information as to Adega’s status, please let us know in the comments!
