The Fenton Companies, a Silver Spring-based real estate development company, is in negotiations for the sale of its property at the corner of Fenton Street and Silver Spring Avenue.

According to a company spokesperson, approved plans are still in place to construct Silver Spring Park on the site of an office building, surface parking lot and two residential homes slated for demolition.

The new development would include “a 120-room Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel by Marriott with ground floor retail and Silver Spring Apartments, a 58-unit residential apartment building complex. A total of 9,234 square feet of ground floor retail will also be split between the hotel and office building, while the hotel and apartment building will share underground parking facilities,” says the company’s website.

The current “Space for Lease” sign on the property refers to space available in the existing office building at 8115 Fenton St., the spokesperson said.

In the meantime, the company, founded by Dr. Ulysses S. Glee Jr., is awaiting final permits for the demolition work at 812 and 814 Silver Spring Ave.

If the company is unable to sell the property, the spokesperson said the group would likely go ahead and build Silver Spring Park on its own.
