Spice Street Restaurant Hiring, Planning Early October Opening

Spice Street, a restaurant promising “innovative Indian cuisine,” has begun hiring in anticipation of opening in the first half of October, according to owner Navjot Singh.

The restaurant will focus on a smaller staff to start, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but Singh expects the number will grow later.

The full menu is still under development, he said.

“We’re bringing street food in this menu from different parts of India, because I do love India,” SIngh said. “We are going to combine [dishes] with other cuisines to try to make a fusion meal.

“It’s going to be a unique menu,” he added. “It’s not going to be traditional curries and samosas and that type of [food]. It’s going to be totally different.”

Singh also owns and operates Café of India, which has been operating on Wisconsin Avenue in the District of Columbia for about 10 years.

The Spice Street website is currently a holding page where residents can sign up to receive email updates if desired. The page also includes the link to a job application page for interested workers.

The restaurant is located at 8242 Georgia Ave., on the ground floor of Solaire 8250 apartments.
