Willow Street Yoga is closing its downtown Silver Spring studio on the second level of 8561 Fenton St., according to an announcement on the company’s Facebook page.
In a email to clients on June 3, signed “Joe Miller and the Willow Street team,” the company wrote, “Our biggest challenge in maintaining the studio has always been our high rent obligations. To support our long term financial stability, we are sadly choosing to close our beautiful Silver Spring location.”
The studio was able to secure some funding under the federal Payroll Protection legislation, as well as grants.
However, the message said, “Reducing our rent burden for an unused space will allow us to focus our efforts and resources on making our Takoma Park studio the best space it can be when we reopen physically.”
In the meantime, the studio continues to offer online classes.
