Today is the last day borrowers can reduce any Montgomery County library fines they may have during Food for Fines 2016.
Each canned good or non-perishable food item delivered to the any library branch will reduce fines or hold fees by $1.
The food will be donated to the Manna Food Center. Of particular interest are shelf-stable foods such as canned fruits, vegetables and meats, dried beans, brown rice, quinoa, low sugar cereals, baby food, formula, and vegetarian items. No opened food or home-canned items will be accepted.
The Silver Spring branch of the library is open until 5 p.m. today.
