Silver Spring Man Arrested on Murder, Other Charges

21-year-old Abraham Douglas of Silver Spring has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Ahmadou Bamba Gueye of Takoma Park.

The fatal shooting occurred early Friday evening in the 7600 Block of Maple Avenue in Takoma Park, according to police. WTOP reports that the shooting occurred near the Park Ritchie apartment complex.

“Through investigative means, Douglas was located on the night of the incident after burglarizing a residence in the 600 block of Kennebec Avenue in Takoma Park,” Takoma Park Police spokeswoman Cathy Plevy said in a news release. “During the arrest, officers recovered a handgun and a 50-round drum magazine. Douglas was transported to a local area hospital after officers discovered he was suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity. After being medically treated and released, he was charged with murder, burglary, and firearms violations, among other related charges. Douglas is currently in the custody of the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and is being held on a no-bond status.”
