Police Investigating Armed Robbery

Police in Takoma Park are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 5:40 a.m. this morning in the 900 block of Merrimac Drive.

“On March 1, at approximately 5:40 am, Takoma Park Police responded to the 900 block of Merrimac Drive for the report of an armed robbery,” reads an emailed community advisory.

“The victim was driving in the 8100 block of Lockney Avenue turning on to Merrimac Drive when he stopped and got out to fix his vehicle’s windshield. The victim stated that while he was out of his vehicle a light blue Volkswagen pulled up beside his vehicle. Three unknown Black males exited the Volkswagen. One of the suspects was pointing a flashlight at the victim, while the other two were pointing unknown objects at him. One of the suspects struck the victim and took property from him. The three suspects returned to the Volkswagen and fled on Carroll Avenue towards Flower Avenue.

“The victim was not seriously physically injured during the armed robbery. Lookout information was provided to all surrounding jurisdictions.

“Investigators are asking that anyone with information about this incident, or knows the identities of the suspects driving a light blue Volkswagen, please contact the Takoma Park Police Department at 301-270-1100 and refer to case #220008758.”
