Winter Coat Drive Collects Over 600 Coats

The Takoma Park Police Department’s Winter Coat Drive has collected over 600 winter coats and over 200 other items in this year’s campaign. The annual coat drive, which began November 2 and ended December 18, was held in partnership with Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington and other local charities.

The Takoma Park Police Department, in partnership with Adventist Community Services, Takoma Adventist Church and Sheppard Pratt Care Center and its sister charities, began a winter coat drive in early November that ran through December 18th,” reads an email sent to the Source. “Our generous community donated over 600 winter coats, as well as 200 other items, to those in need in our community and beyond. Thank you for your generosity; it is sincerely appreciated! Stay warm!”

Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington’s Executive Director Ken Flemmer was recently honored by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-District 8) as part of the Congressman’s Local Heroes video series.
