Takoma Park Police Collecting Toys, Donations for Needy Families

The Takoma Park Police Department is collecting toys, cash, and/or gift card donations for local families in need this holiday season, according to a Community Advisory email sent to the Source.

From Monday, November 16 through noon December 23, police are collecting unwrapped toys for girls and boys between 2-12 years old. To shop for kids in need, they are also accepting monetary donations and/or gift cards. Due to COVID concerns, they cannot accept toys that are not in their original packaging.

Toys, cash, and/or gift card donations can be dropped off at the Police Department headquarters, located at 7500 Maple Avenue in Takoma Park; there will be a collection box in the lobby. Police say that for security reasons, If donating cash and/or gift cards, visit the Administrative Desk between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday to drop off directly with a Police Department employee; do not put these items in the box with toys. Place cash and/or gift cards in an envelope addressed “Holiday Toy Drive.” Alternatively, money order or gift card donations (no cash) can also be mailed to the attention of Sgt. Butler at the Takoma Park Police Department.
