A Silver Spring-based rugby team, Beltway Elite, is heading to USA Rugby’s National Championship tournament. Beltway Elite plays the faster, seven-on-seven version of the game—the one on display at last summer’s Olympic games.
The 28-member USA Rugby Women’s Team visited Scion Restaurant in Silver Spring for a dinner and fundraiser before heading to Ireland for the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2017.

The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts open their 2017 home season this Friday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Montgomery Blair High School against the Bethesda Big Train. The contest is the first of 20 home games for the Tbolts, who play in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League.
The Silver Spring/Takoma Park Thunderbolts will return for their 18th season of baseball in Montgomery County. The Tbolts, who compete in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, play their home games at Montgomery Blair High School. The first home game is June 9.
