County police are asking for the public’s help to identify some personal items discovered in what the department describes as “a suspicious situation.” The items, which include clothing, were found buried in late summer of last year in Nolte Local Park at 200 Denver Rd.
County residents would no longer be required to register their bicycles under terms of legislation introduced yesterday by the County Council. ill 2-20, Bicycles – Registration – Amendments would make registration voluntary for bicycles owned for personal use. It also would repeal county and park police authority to impound an unregistered bike.
The operators of Downtown Silver Spring will permanently close Ellsworth Drive to vehicular traffic, and lay down nontoxic artificial turf to create what’s described as a “linear urban park.” Bryant Foulger, chairman of Fougler-Pratt, one of the complex’s owners, presented plans for a $10 million renovation of the area to a generally receptive audience of about 60 people last night.
The final plan for the Silver Spring Intermediate Park improvements will be presented at a meeting tonight by staff from Montgomery Parks following a series of meetings and public comments.
Montgomery Parks will present a proposal to the Planning Board this week to allow a pilot program that would permit e-bikes and e-scooters on certain trails in the park system. Ellsworth Urban Dog Park at 621 Ellsworth Dr. is scheduled to close today for annual maintenance, according to the Montgomery Parks website.
