Washington Sports Clubs has permanently closed its downtown Silver Spring location at 901 Wayne Avenue, according to a reader tip received this afternoon.
FVCBank Closes Silver Spring Location
FVCBank has permanently closed its branch at 7901 Eastern Ave. in Silver Spring, according to bank president Trish Ferrick. The community bank, based in Fairfax, had closed all of its branches due the pandemic, she said, while accepting night deposits and electronic banking.

Society Restaurant Declared “Unsafe Facility,” Receives 30-Day Closure Notice
Society Restaurant and Lounge at 8229 Georgia Ave. was declared an “unsafe facility” and a closure order issued on Sept. 29 by Dr. Travis Gayles, the county’s health officer. The restaurant will remain closed for 30 days “or until notified by the County Health Officer that the Unsafe Facility is allowed to continue operations under modified conditions.”
Eggspectation has Permanently Closed
Eggspectation, located at 923 Ellsworth Drive in Downtown Silver Spring, has permanently closed, according to Twitter reports and signage posted at the restaurant.

Downtown Silver Spring mainstay Sergio Ristorante Italiano, tucked inside the Doubletree Hotel at 8727 Colesville Road, has permanently closed, according to a report from Bethesda Beat.
Sections of Sligo Creek Parkway to be Closed Friday for Repairs
Montgomery Parks will close two sections of Sligo Creek Parkway tomorrow, Sept. 18 to vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. The sections are:
Parkway from Colesville Road to Wayne Avenue, and
Parkway from Kennebec Avenue to Maple Avenues.
Silver Spring Branch of Revere Bank Will Close Aug. 14
The Revere Bank branch located in the Lee Plaza Building at 8601 Georgia Ave. will close as of tomorrow, Aug. 14, according to a sign taped to the ATM on the site. The ATM itself will no longer operate as of 2 p.m. Friday. The sign directs customers to refer to sandyspringbank.com to find a Sandy Spring Bank branch or ATM location.
Republic Garden Temporarily Shut Down by DHHS
The Republic Garden in downtown Silver Spring has been temporarily shut down by order of the Department of Health and Human Services, officials announced. The restaurant/lounge at 8402 Georgia Ave. was given a 30-day closure notice on Sunday, July 26 for not maintaining the minimum of six feet for social distancing.
