Astro Lab Brewing, Capitals Legend Craig Laughlin Release “Wicked Wrister” Collaboration Beer

Washington Capitals legend & NBC Sports Washington commentator Craig Laughlin has teamed up with downtown Silver Spring’s Astro Lab Brewing to release “Wicked Wrister” India Pale Ale.

“It’s here and on fire!! WICKED WRISTER, our collab with Craig Laughlin in support of The Laughlin Family Foundation for Rare Cancers is available in our taproom,” Astro Lab announced last week in a Facebook post. “Unleashing a fury of hop goodness, this beer has notes of peach, orange creamsicle, and hints of coconut on the nose that follow to the palate and gush with bright clementine, Sunkist orange, and hints of cedar to balance everything out. Moderate bittering and carbonation accentuate the hops and create an uber soft mouthfeel that finishes smooth and luscious.”

“We are so thankful for this collab, as 50% of the profits will help us @thelaughlinfamilyfoundation in our fight to cure rare cancers,” Laughlin said in a post on his Instagram profile.

In conjunction with the beer’s release, Astro Lab and The Laughlin Family Foundation are also hosting a virtual auction for a No. 18 replica jersey, signed by Laughlin. Proceeds from the virtual auction will be donated to The Laughlin Family Foundation for Rare Cancers.

“Wicked Wrister,” which clocks in at 7.1% ABV, is available now for pickup or local delivery, and will be available at retailers later this week. “4-packs of Wicked Wrister are still available for purchase through our online store for pick-up or local delivery. Also available at partner retailers this week,” the brewery said today on Facebook.

The virtual auction ends Tuesday, February 9 at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

Previously, Laughlin released “Locker 18” Double IPA in 2020 with Alexandria, Va.-based Aslin Beer Company, according to Russian Machine Never Breaks. “I’m so excited about this collaboration as I always wanted a beer named after me,” Laughlin said to RMNB last year.
